The City of Barcelona

Beautiful Barcelona

The Catalan Capital

The second largest city in Spain, Barcelona is a major economic centre, originally founded as a Roman City and today a major tourist destination with a rich cultural heritage set on the north east coast of the Iberian peninsula, south of the pyrenees. The City is surrounded by picturesque hills affording breath taking views of the city.

With many beautiful parks and beaches stretching for a full 2.8 miles, there's plenty of green and seaside for everyone, even during the Grand Prix weekend.

The preparations for the 1992 Olympics saw a major program of redevelopment that gave the city a fresh appeal on the international stage. A thriving services industry and a booming economy have seen Barcelona quickly grow into the venue of choice for many national and international trade fairs. In addtion, a large variety of options for enjoying music, theatre and art await you in Barcelona. Numerous museums, including the Picasso museum, hold treasures belonging to some of the world's best known artists

As far as sport is concerned, Barcelona is simply sport mad. Fanatic following of the local football clubs, FC Barcelona and the Real Club Deportivo Espanol combine with the fervour felt nationally for the rather controversial Fernando Alonso to make any sports fan feel at home.

A Grand Prix weekend in Barcelona will always be a memorable one
